Welcome to the Mitchell County Historic Preservation Association’s web site. Our goals include identifying and preserving Mitchell County’s historic structures, sites, and stories. We also provide information and resources to owners of historic properties in Mitchell County, and host events connecting the present to the past.
On Sunday, October 2, 2022 we will be hosting the Life Above Main Street Tour from 1-4 p.m. The tour starts at 819 Main Street at the Methodist Church. Five tour groups will leave the church and rotate between 5 different apartments above Main Street. We will tour John Walker’s apartment above Subway, the apartment above the Watt’s Theater, the apartment in the Cleveland Building, the apartment above Main Street Blossoms, and the air B & B above Teluwut. All tours will return to the church for a tour of the sanctuary, music by Sam Crosser, and a brief history of the church. Following the tour, the Methodist Men are serving a take-out spaghetti meal for an additional $10.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the event. Tickets may be purchased at Main Street Blossoms, the Chamber of Commerce and at the Museum at the CRC in Osage. The tour is not handicapped accessible.
